Catalogue: Culture and Democracy
Against the backdrop of rising neo-conservatism and violent religious fanaticism, citizens in Pakistan are faced with threats not only to their lives and security, but also to their politics. In order to address this situation, the National College of Arts, Lahore – in collaboration with the Heinrich Böll Foundation, Germany – has launched the project “Conserving Democracy Through Culture and Education”. Housed in NCA’s Department of Communication & Cultural Studies, the project was built on the unique strengths of the College to launch a sound academic discourse on the cultural threats to peace and democracy. The project involved student seminars, research monographs, policy briefs, and an art exhibition on these central themes (more information)
