Pakistani media have come under pressure after the flood 2010 for ill informed and sensationalist reporting about the natural disaster. In our new paper, Kiran Hassan, Senior Researcher at South Asian Free Media Association (SAFMA)in Lahore and Doctoral Candidate at London University, examines what went wrong and how the media can play a more constructive role in disaster reporting. Ms. Hassan presented the results of her research also at the BASAS (British Association for South Asian Studies) Conference at the University of Southampton/UK in April 2011.
