The interaction was three folds, Firstly to enhance the capacity building for Afghan youth and professionals through short training programs in peace building and exchange visiting program in India Afghanistan and Pakistan. Second to develop peace process in Afghanistan, through institutional capacity-building, think tank networking, conferences and joint policy papers with regional collaboration between Afghanistan-India-Pakistan and third professional and civil society exchange at institutional capacity-building through visit-study programs in India for professional and civil society groups in Afghanistan and Pakistan such as the media, local government, parliamentarians, and women’s organizations.
The delegation started their journey from Delhi where they welcomed by Jamia Milia Delhi India. Professor Radha Kumar gave the overview on India-Pakistan-Afghanistan Peace Process. The delegation attended lecture on India and Afghanistan relations delivered by Jagat Mehta Former Minister foreign secretary of India, after Deputy High commissioner of Pakistan invited delegation on tea.
In Kabul, the delegation attended lectures arranged by Kabul Center for Strategic Studies on The Geopolitics of Afghanistan Delivered by Waliullah Rahmani.
In Lahore, student attended various roundtable discussions seminars and political sightseeing arranged by Heinrich Boll Stiftung Lahore Pakistan office, where they interacted with various senior journalist political analyst and human Rights activists of Pakistan Mr. Rashed Rehman, Mr. I.A.Rehman, Ms. Asma Jahangir at Dorab Patel Auditorium (HRCP).
In Islamabad they attended a roundtable session, which was organized by Quaid_i_Azam University Pakistan at History department, where they interacted with Ms. Ayesha Siddiqa Analyst, Dr.Waqir Ali Shah Chairman of the department of history, and Mr. Tahir Ameen Chairman of Department of International Relations of Qaid-i-Azam University.
Student attended lecture of German Ambassador Mr. Michael Koch, this was followed by question answers session. They raised various questions about the peace process in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, and the role of the foreign countries for building peace in the region.
The delegation also visited Parliament House. Chairman Senate Mr. H. Farooq Naek, who was working as an acting president of Pakistan, along with 6 other senior senators from all the provinces and from all the different parties interacted with these students.
It was a good interaction between students, think tanks, professionals, and parliamentarians to open their eyes towards the peace process and conflict resolutions among India-Pakistan and Afghanistan. It’s up to them which practices they would adopt for their future betterment.
